My family and I went to the Theatre Royal Plymouth on Friday evening to watch a performance of 42nd Street and we were so impressed with the BSL interpreter!
I’m a class teacher at Eggbuckland Vale Primary School in Plymouth and over the past five years at the school I have had the privilege of teaching deaf children, as well as working alongside and learning from my amazing colleagues in our Deaf Education Centre. I am only at Level 1 in BSL myself but I found it fascinating to watch the Interpreter signing and interpreting the performance. Whilst my family and I didn’t require interpretation ourselves, we were all so impressed by how they interpreted such a fast-paced and toe-tapping musical, following the music and dialogue!
I have such respect and admiration for talented interpreters and I think it’s fantastic that this service is provided at the Theatre, to make performances accessible for all. Keep up the great work!
